Love Your Child’s Eyes
Retina Australia is joining Vision 2020 Australia and the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) again this year in raising awareness for eye health and vision care on World Sight Day.
World Sight Day 2024 is on Thursday 10th October, and this year’s focus is to Love Your Child’s Eyes.
Please join us in spreading the word of the significance of eye care for young people.
Pledge to Love Your (Child's) Eyes
When was the last time your child had their eyes checked?
- Join the millions of parents and carers around the world who are prioritising their child’s eye health for World Sight Day with a pledge to commit to booking an appointment to take your child to have their eyes tested by a professional by 10th October 2024.
- We are also campaigning to ensure that children not only understand the importance of caring for their eye health but are also free from the weight of any social stigma associated with wearing glasses and other corrective treatments.
Your pledge ensures young eyes stay healthy and contributes to the universal story that eye health for children isn’t an optional extra but vital to their health, education, development and well-being.

Support Research into Inherited Retinal Disease
This World Sight Day, you can also show your support for children’s eye health by supporting medical research into inherited retinal disease.
There has been so much progress made with one treatment now available in Australia. This has paved the way for exciting emerging treatments in the pipeline.
Through our Annual Grants Program, Retina Australia funds research into earlier detection, prevention and finding new treatments with the longer term hope of unlocking cures for inherited retinal diseases. The next round of grants for 2025 are currently being reviewed and will be announced next month. Please show your support in continuing to drive research progress by making a donation. Thank you so much for your support.
