Jane Cherry is also the Convenor of the Community and Engagement Committee.
Jane was appointed to the National Board as a Director in 2021. Jane has extensive experience in the not-for-profit sector in roles focussing on governance, project and event management.
Diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa at 31, Jane has been actively involved in raising awareness of inherited retinal disease (IRD) and raising funds for Retina Australia to support their medical research into early detection, treatment and cures.
Jane is a graduate of Retina International’s Education Programme and Vice Chair of the Retina International Youth Council. She has been involved in the planning committee for two Retina International youth conferences most recently coordinating and facilitating multiple sessions at the 2022 Retina International Youth Conference in Reykjavik, Iceland.
Jane is committed to the challenge of ensuring ongoing funding for research into a cure for all inherited retinal diseases and making sure those diagnosed with an IRD have the information and support they need to be fully equipped for the journey ahead.
