Dr Ceecee Britten-Jones is a Research Fellow at the University of Melbourne and Centre for Eye Research Australia. She is also a registered optometrist and practices at the Australian College of Optometry. Ceecee’s research focusses on improving the understanding of different inherited retinal diseases (IRDs) and improving support for individuals throughout the diagnostic process.
Ceecee completed her optometry degree at the University of Auckland and her PhD at the University of Melbourne. Since 2020, she has played a key role in building the Victorian IRD Registry (VENTURE study). She currently leads genetic studies in her team, working to better understand the genetic changes associated with different IRDs, to improve diagnosis and support emerging therapies and clinical trials.
Ceecee is involved in several international groups, including the International Clinical Genome Consortium, and in 2023 she was named the Optometry Victoria/South Australia Rising Star in Optometry. Outside of research, Ceecee spends her time learning new creative pursuits and playing disc golf.
