Associate Professor Campbell is a clinician scientist with a special interest in ocular genetics. He is passionate about trying to improve outcomes in ophthalmology through the integration of research and clinical practice. He completed an undergraduate degree at the University of Queensland before moving to the UK, where he undertook an M.Sc and D.Phil in neuroscience at Oxford University. He then worked at St Cross College and the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics at the University of Oxford as a research fellow in medical genetics. A/Prof Campbell’s subspecialty training in ocular genetics and electrodiagnostics, medical retina, ocular inflammation, and complex cataract surgery was carried out at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, the Centre for Eye Research Australia, Monash Hospital, and the Royal Children’s Hospital. A/Prof Campbell is actively involved in research and has publications in journals such as Nature, The Lancet, and the Medical Journal of Australia.
