Associate Professor Guei-Sheung Liu completed a PhD at the Kaohsiung Medical University (Taiwan) and carried out postdoctoral training at the O’Brien Institute and Centre for Eye Research Australia (CERA). He has extensive experience in designing and developing innovative gene therapy approaches to prevent and delay blindness from major eye diseases (especially for neovascular eye diseases and IRDs), with projects continuedly funded by the NHMRC since 2012. Assoc. Prof Liu is currently a Principal Investigator and leads a genetic engineering research unit at CERA. His recent research work has extended into the fields of next-generation gene therapy, focusing on refining these applications to revolutionize ophthalmic care with the latest genetic technologies.
