An activity for your Do It in The Dark (DITD) fundraiser could be to take the Retina Australia DITD Puzzle Challenge – see puzzle below.
This is a great way to fundraise for Retina Australia.
Participants can donate to take part in the challenge, which is both safe and fun to do, even for children as a school fundraiser.
For a workplace event, you could ask your employer if they might match employee funds raised. What a terrific way to engage staff in activity for social impact!
How does this challenge work?
- All you need to do is have your DITD participants pop on a pair of Retina Australia glasses and complete the puzzle as fast as they can. You have the option to make the puzzle as easy or as hard as you like, by simply changing the number of puzzle pieces with the selector in the menu at the top of the puzzle.
- From the moment they click on the Shuffle button, the timer will start. It will finish once the puzzle has been successfully completed. You can find more detailed instructions listed below the puzzle for participants to follow.
- If it’s a team challenge, you can request participants screen shot their times and send them to the event co-ordinator to be collated and updated into team leaderboard. It’s a great incentive to see who is the fastest puzzler without their peripheral vision!
- Don’t forget to take some photos with the glasses on and share on your socials with the tag @retinaaustralia and use the hashtags #DoItintheDark and #RetinaAustraliaDITD to help create awareness for inherited retinal disease. Thank you so much for your support!
How to play
- Click on “Shuffle” to start the clock.
- You will then need to use the mouse to move the puzzle pieces to where they belong.
- To rotate a puzzle piece, depending on your computer, you will need to either, click on the piece you want to rotate, then either:
- Use left/right arrows
- Right click
- Use a two finger click
- You may also toggle between edge or middle pieces.
You might like to have a try with your mouse and keyboard to test out your functionality before you begin. Don’t worry, it will still be a great challenge once you pop those glasses on!
Have fun and best of luck!
