Retina International

Retina International is a global umbrella organisation for patient-led charities and foundations who support research into rare, genetically inherited and age-related forms of retinal disease. Retina International is a registered charity in Ireland.

Retina Australia is a Member of Retina International. We also have representatives on the Boards and Committees of Retina International:

  • Ms Jane Cherry is Vice Chair of the Board of the Retina International Youth Council (currently also a Board Director of Retina Australia)
  • Professor Erica Fletcher, University of Melbourne, is a member of the Retina International Scientific & Medical Advisory Board (representing as a member of Retina Australia’s Scientific & Medical Advisory Committee, and is also a member of Retina Australia’s Grants Committee)
  • Professor Michael Kalloniatis, University of New South Wales, is a member of the Retina International Scientific & Medical Advisory Board (representing as a member of Retina Australia’s Scientific & Medical Advisory Committee)

Vision 2020 Australia

Vision 2020 Australia is the national peak body for the eye health and vision care sector, representing around 50 member organisations involved in:

  • local and global eye care 
  • health promotion
  • low vision support
  • vision rehabilitation
  • eye research
  • professional assistance
  • community support.

It is part of VISION 2020: The Right to Sight, an initiative of the World Health Organisation and the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness.

Vision 2020 Australia’s role is to ensure that eye health and vision care remains high on the health, disability and international development agendas of Australian governments. This will ensure that Australia fulfils its commitments under the World Health Assembly resolutions and World Health Organization’s Universal eye health: a global action plan 2014-2019.

Retina Australia is an Associate Member of Vision 2020 Australia.

Ross House Association

The Ross House Association supports independent not-for-profit groups working towards environmental and/or social justice. The five-storey heritage listed Ross House building in Flinders Lane provides affordable, accessible office space to over 50 member organisations and offers affordable meeting room hire and other resources to anyone who might like to use them. Ross House is the only self-managed and community owned not-for-profit building in Melbourne, Australia and has been an important part of the social justice and environment community in Melbourne since 1987.

Retina Australia is a member of Ross House Association, and our office is located at Ross House.

Centre for Accessibility Australia

The Centre for Accessibility Australia is a non-profit organisation that promotes accessibility throughout Australia. It’s current focus is the incorporation of digital accessibility, so that people with a disability can have equal access to technology and the internet. Founded in 2018, the Centre was established to promote the accessibility movement through advocacy, research, training services, auditing service and celebration such as the Australian Access Awards.

Retina Australia is a member of the Centre for Accessibility Australia.
