Dr Ceecee Britten-Jones is a Research Fellow at the University of Melbourne and Centre for Eye Research Australia and an AHPRA-registered optometrist. She has over 10 years of experience in public health eye care and holds a PhD, during which she gained extensive experience in the design, analysis, and implementation of multidisciplinary clinical trials.

Ceecee has played a key role in leading initiatives to grow inherited retinal disease research in Australia, including the VENTURE inherited retinal disease research registry and partnerships with industry leaders to expand ocular genomics capabilities. These initiatives are central to advocating for more treatments for inherited retinal diseases in Australia. She is also leading research integrating clinical and genetic data to improve our understanding of inherited retinal diseases, which is essential to driving the development of new therapies.

Ceecee contributes to global initiatives aiming to improve inherited retinal disease diagnosis, including her work with the International Clinical Genome Consortium. Her contributions to the field have been recognised by a Victorian Endowment for Science, Knowledge, and Innovation Victoria Fellowship, and she was named the 2023 Optometry Victoria/South Australia Rising Star in Optometry. As a board director, Ceecee brings a unique combination of research expertise, clinical experience, and a genuine passion for improving clinical care, helping to support Retina Australia’s strategic initiatives.
