The Australian Government’s Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) has awarded $4 million to the Australian National University (ANU) for a “National Platform for Therapeutic mRNA Development”. This project will be led by Professor Thomas Preiss, Professor and Director of Shine Dalgarno Centre for RNA Innovation (pictured on the right).
The project aims to establish a national platform for the development of therapeutic mRNA, with one of three initial pilot projects focusing on macular degeneration. It seeks to advance the understanding and application of mRNA-based therapies to improve the lives of individuals affected by macular degeneration. The anticipated outcomes include the development of novel mRNA-based treatments whilst enhancing collaboration between researchers, industry and consumer groups to improve treatment accessibility.
Retina Australia is proud to announce that it is a Project Partner on this collaborative project.
